PRACTICE PRIVACY NOTICE
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The new General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 25th May 2018, superseding the current Data Protection Act (1998).
Under the terms of the new GDPR, a privacy notice is required to explain to patients what personal information is held about them and how it is collected and processed.
A direct link to our privacy notice is available below.
One very important aspect of the new GDPR is that the practice must now have explicit consent recorded in a patient's notes to be able to send text messages regarding:
- Appointment reminders
- Details of flu or other clinics
- Surgery closures
A text message have been sent to all patients whose mobile phone number we hold, asking them to contact the surgery if they wish to continue to receive these messages. it is extremely important that you do this before 25th May. On this date, all patients will be automatically opted out of receiving text messages and you will receive no further text messages from the practice until you take action.
