Riverside Medical Practice Patients’ Participation Group (PPG)
Our group was founded in 1999; we are a support group who liaise with Doctors Troy and Soni plus the staff. Patient Participation Group's (PPG's) bring many benefits to both Practice and the Patients.
We hold monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month (except August) at 1.00pm at the practice here in Alma Street; the duration is approximately two hours.…
2012 Priorities
During the past few years Riverside Medical Practice has gone through a large period of change and the PPG wanted to be sure that the patient population were still satified with the standard of care offered by the practice. They have taken a keen interest in appointment system, telephone system, opening times and staff - results in uploaded survey.
Riverside PPG would like to retain the "Small Practice/Family Friendly Feel" whilst embrasing technology and moving forward.
Monthly Meetings
At our meetings we normally have a guest speaker each month; over the years we have had the pleasure of some very interesting speakers who have covered many aspects of health care with speakers from the PCT (Primary Care Trust) and in June 2010 the retiring Chief Executive of N.A.P.P. (National Association of Patient Participation). This promotes awareness of local/national facilities that are available to all concerned. E.g. George Hardwick Foundation Trust for both the ill and the often neglected carers.
News Letters
This keeps practice patients up to date on our activities. Currently these come out quarterly and are currently available in the waiting room or from Reception.
Fund-Raising
We help the surgery to purchase items that they may be unable to obtain without our support. Over the years our fund-raising efforts have assisted the practice with the purchase of an ECG machine, Autoclave machine (sterilising unit), repair of Cryosurgery machine as well as other items. It has also provided a Bead Frame Table for children in the waiting room. To raise funds we hold Coffee Mornings, Raffles, etc.
Who Can Become Involved?
We are a forum open to all. (We previously at our sub meeting had the following: We are an open forum which is open to all)
